American Guinea Pig If you’ve been a long-time reader of this blog, you know what Guinea Pig means; you know the power of that particular brand. Made in Japan, the original Guinea Pig movies were the pinnacle of gore for a blood-hungry Asian market that had always placed a high premium on explicit violence. Released on video in Japan, the Guinea Pig VHSs were big sellers, and even became somewhat notorious when some otaku, charged with a bunch of murders, was found to have copies of Guinea Pig in his movie collection. A samurai warrior, played by infamous and brilliant manga artist Hideshi Hino, spends his evening hacking a bound girl to pieces with his sword. That pretty much sums it up: The movie is a single-minded spectacle of violence and dismemberment that, by design, dares you to stare at the screen until the blood runs dry. On top of these 8 disks, you also got a Guinea Pig T-shirt, which I still own, and a pretty poster. At that time, the German set was the only legit way to see the movies. In America, the series was a bootleg success, and copies were traded like gold nuggets between collectors and gore hounds who hadn’t seen anything quite like it before.

St Swithun’s Church East Grinstead has an unusually diverse range of religious and spiritual organisations for a town of its size. St Swithun’s Church was founded in the 11th century. Architect James Wyatt rebuilt it in local stone in after it became derelict and collapsed. John Foxe wrote about them in his 1, page Foxe’s Book of Martyrs. St Barnabas’ Church in Dunnings Road serves the south of the town; the present wooden structure of replaced an older church built in Lowdell over a year period beginning in , the Decorated Gothic Revival church was consecrated in and has its own parish.
It was established by adherents of the Oxford Movement , and services still follow a more Anglo-Catholic style than East Grinstead’s other Anglican churches. The small evangelical Calvinistic group owned the church until ; it is now used by Baptists and is called West Street Baptist Church. Ron Hubbard bought the Georgian mansion and its 24 hectares 59 acres of grounds from the Maharaja of Jaipur in , and lived in the town until It sought to examine and explain the convergence of such a wide variety of religious organisations in the East Grinstead area.
The documentary, produced by Zed Productions and directed by Ian Sellar, reached no definite conclusion:

This introduces an interesting but obscure chapter in history, straddling Spain and France and consequently tending to be left by treatments of Spain to French history, and by treatments of France to Spanish history. Not all of it was ultimately retained by Spain, but readily accessible sources don’t seem to show either the difference between the old and new boundaries or what happened to the rulers of Navarre after the annexation — the table at right picks up at that point.
This seems like a grave oversight for the history of France. The history of Navarre is obscure enough that I found the full genealogy only with recourse to a succession of more serious and complete sources. Family trees for the Bourbons, such as given here , almost never go back further than the father, Henry, of Henry IV’s mother Jeanne. Brian Tompsett’s Royal and Noble genealogy originally enabled me to fill in the gaps, but there are some obscurities and questions in the information of both Tompsett and Hay that I had to compare with other sources.

Give hope to guinea pigs at April Lodge Guinea Pig Rescue in Eastry this Christmas
And with Christmas just around the corner, guinea pig health advisor Val Savage and her 20 volunteers are expecting a barrage of more unwanted guinea pigs as early as the New Year. Guinea pigs are for life or at least four to seven years , not just for Christmas. It is a phrase we hear all too often about dogs, but it applies to all animals.
A guinea pig’s health can deteriorate very quickly. By the time problems become apparent, illnesses may be life-threatening. Discover the warning signs of illness in guinea pigs here.

Then Barbara met with me a few more times to help me with the details of the site thanks again Barbara! After we had another long conversation on Skype at the beginning of August, I officially had a crush on Andy, despite the fact that I live in Atlanta and he lives in Freiburg, which is in the Black Forest. And then again on Sundays. We made it through my week long trip to Ecuador and his two week trip to Greece without being able to talk to each other.
We definitely learned just how important we are to each other during those weeks.

Nearly every day with the passion of an alchemist he combines yeast strains, souring bacteria, hops, and other ingredients that then engage in an intricate microscopic dance that results, after the fermentation process is complete, in beer. As the head brewer at Kent Falls Brewery, a small but increasingly popular brewery located on a farm in Kent, Connecticut, Dellinger produces some sought-after beer. But beer is only the most visible fruit of his fermentation fascination.
A year-old writer and former homebrewer who splits his time between Beacon and Kent, Dellinger says that when he started as a homebrewer, it led him down the rabbit hole of the fermentation world. After beer he made cider, kimchi, sauerkraut, and even beet kvass, a pickled fermented beet beverage. It’s not necessarily something I’d drink a pint of with dinner, but it’s really enjoyable to sip with lunch or breakfast.
It’s very flavorful, so you only need a few ounces to get your fix, and it’s extremely healthy as well. In this tell-all food memoir, Dellinger recounts the highs and lows of the experiment, delves into the science and history of fermentation, and examines its culinary value and nutritional impact. With an engaging writing style and keen sense of humor, he jumps into Michael Pollan food territory with a Hemingwayesque sense of personal adventure, at one point traveling to Iceland for hakarl, fermented rotten shark meat, a quest that left a bad taste in his mouth, literally.
The book began as a sort of thought experiment for Dellinger. The thought just slipped into my head that this is such an expansive, all-encompassing world of food that you can probably live off of fermented food,” he says. When he ran it by publishers at the Overlook Press, they loved the concept, and the thought experiment became an actual experiment—or, as Dellinger puts it: The work has earned praise from the Weston A.
Price Foundation, and Kirkus Reviews, wrote “Dellinger ably explains the wide range of fermented foods, the role flavor plays, health benefits, and the basic processes, and he includes a few recipes
